Adam is a very talented musician who is also very passionate, dedicated and committed to his work. I currently live in Southern New Jersey over 100 miles from New York, and have traveled to Adam’s New York studios for instruction. He is patient, knowledgeable and so easy to work with; and I am confident that these sentiments are shared by the many other students he instructs. Adam’s talent, creativity and versatility are tremendous assets, and with his self-discipline, he is by far among the best that I have heard.

Adam Chernick is the best music teacher in the world! He has been teaching me and two of my sons (ages 9 and 12) for the past two years. He makes music fun, he nurtures our interest and talents, and he provides us with a solid foundation in all the basics while allowing us to enjoy the experience of learning. We all look forward to our lessons each week anticipating another enlightening and fun time, and Adam always makes the experience even better than we expected. He shows great consideration, from re-stringing guitars to remembering birthdays, that makes his powerful command of music and his skills as an instructor come alive in the student-teacher relationship. We are studying guitar, keyboard and voice and can recommend Adam without any reservation or hesitation – he is WONDERFUL!

Adam is a great teacher of music. Rohan, our son, has been his student for two years now. He learns both the Keyboard and Guitar from Adam. Adam is stern yet flexible — this allows our six year old to learn in an organized yet creativity-fostering manner. Adam has outlined goals for Rohan — learn more songs, write a long song, play songs faster — and he follows through with concrete incremental steps each class so we get there. Rohan has made “audible” progress these past months; he truly enjoys his classes with Adam.

My wife and I have been taking piano lessons from Adam for the past year and we are both extremely satisfied with our progress. While my wife had some prior instruction, I had never learned how to play an instrument or read music. Within the first lesson I was able to understand the fundamentals of how to read music and start playing a simplified version of Hey Jude on the piano. Adam has been able to create custom tailored lessons for us that are both fun and engaging. My wife and I both being Beatles fans, Adam has been able to create elements in his lessons that speak to our different skill levels, while allowing us to practice together as a couple. Adam has been able to make a lasting impact on our relationship with music and he has earned our deepest respect both as a person and musician.

Adam is an outstanding teacher. I started bass lessons with Adam one year ago as a complete beginner. In the course of that one year, with Adams guidance, I have written many songs and recently started to play collaboratively with other musicians who are much more experienced than myself. In Adam, I have found an instructor with far-reaching knowledge in many aspects of music. Our lessons have covered topics such as Music Theory, Ear Training, Reading and Writing Music, Song Structure and Jamming. Adam has a natural ability to teach creatively, actively adapting his approach to the needs of the student and to the topic at hand. But, perhaps most importantly, Adam is friendly and kind and easy to spend time with.

Adam is the best! Learning to play the ukulele was a bucket list item I never thought I’d actually get to but with his patience and teaching skills, it’s actually happening. As a complete beginner I have never felt judged by Adam and he never minds going over the simplest of skills with me. Learning to play the ukulele has actually been fun and it has everything to do with the fact that Adam is an awesome teacher and a joy to be around. Highly recommend

Not only a talented musician, Adam is also a great teacher, which in my past experience has not always been the case. He makes every lesson feel fresh and gets me excited about music. I am not only learning to play, but also learning about the principles of music. Thank you Adam for being such a tireless teacher and never once looking at your watch while I am trying to learn a new song!

I have had many inconsistent guitar instructors in the past. So much so that I gave up on trying to find an instructor and began to teach myself guitar. After about 3 ½ years of “self teaching” I realized that I seriously needed an instructor if I was sincere about mastering the guitar. I stumbled across Adam’s website and saw his rendition of “The Star Spangle Banner” by Jimi Hendrix. I was so impressed that I immediately called and arranged a class. That was over a year ago. I have been with Adam ever since and have not once regretted my decision. Adam knows the science and art of music and has elevated my knowledge of music one hundred fold. I am just at the beginning of what he has to teach me. The best part is that all of the lessons are tailor made for me and exactly what I need to master the instrument. His ear-training program is phenomenal and has turned my ears into extra sensory organs which are now able to detect tones and arrangements. His music theory program has helped me so much in arranging and song writing. He has the patience of a monk and the dedication to his craft that is second to none. If you don’t choose him as your music instructor… SHAME ON YOU.

Adam is a wonderful guitar instructor – patient, enthusiastic, reliable and very knowledgeable about different types of music. Most importantly, he makes lessons fun! His lesson plans are tailor-made to suit the needs of each of his students. During our very first lesson, we sat down and talked about my goals and what I hoped to get out of these lessons. His teaching style is very collaborative and I come away from each lesson feeling like I’ve learned something new. A year and a half ago, I barely knew how to hold a guitar. Today, I have a nice repertoire of songs that I can play and have fun with.

I have been studying guitar with many different teachers for about 45 years, and Adam is certainly among the best I have had, a perfect combination of theory and practice. From beginner to advanced, any serious guitar student will greatly benefit from his knowledge and experience. Best of all, he is fun to work with and can teach all styles, from classical, jazz, blues, rock and bass. I unequivocally recommend him to anyone who appreciates the serious, yet enjoyable, study of the guitar.

I began taking bass lessons with Adam a little over a year ago. I immediately liked his approach, it is very much geared towards the individual’s learning style. Adam asked me if I preferred learning theory, just songs, or both. My personal preference was to learn both, that way I can better understand the instrument, as well as the music. Adam is great as explaining theory, and works well with my personal pace. He is encouraging and enthusiastic, and it is obvious that he really enjoys music and sharing his knowledge with others. Perhaps one of my favorite things that Adam does is he asks the student to provide songs to learn. By selecting songs myself I come to each lesson more excited about what I am going to learn, and more inclined to practice on my own time. Working with Adam has been an enjoyable experience, and I look forward to continuing my musical lessons.
